About the Course

Advanced Theology

The Advanced Theology Course builds upon the systematic approach to theology examined in the introductory course.  It examines the traditions of historical theology and liberation theologies, and how they and the systematic are evidenced in practical theology.  In historical theology, unlike systematic theology, concentration is upon the primary developments in the history of Christian theology—in depth reasoning that analyzes how to teach the faith of Jesus Christ.  Liberation theology analyzes the identity, personhood, and purpose of Christ and is against anything that does not adhere to or exemplify “the Christ” in the lives of human beings.  Practical theology seeks to determine how theological thoughts and actions should be and can be put into the everyday practices of Christian life in realistic and concrete ways.
